The Forums are up!!

In case you haven't seen yet, the 643boxbreaks.com forums have been opened to all!

www.643boxbreaks.com/forum

I admit that I put some time into the install/set up of the forum, so please enjoy. We wanted to start a community effort because there was something missing from the whole box breaking world that exists online. Having something we can communicate on really helps.

We are humans. We are not out to make a fast buck... or really any. We are here because of the hobby and because we want to share it all with everyone. Having a centralized forum helps you talk to us, and us talk to you somewhere other than through a YouTube video!!

Most of the sellers have signed up already and there is a lot of chatter already from cards to video games!

I'm still here!

I know its been a while since I've broken anything, but just wanted to post up that I am still around! I've been pretty busy with actual-life stuff. Who knew I had one of those? I never did before...

I have some hockey boxes I want to list, but it may have to wait until after the U.S. Thanksgiving week due to family being in town. I've been ordering some stuff, so I'm still set to unleash some more mid-range and high-end products. I still have a tin of The Cup and a box of Dominion BURNING a hole in my self. I'm so tempted to just open them for myself!!!

Anyway, I've also been working on a forum for the 643boxbreaks.com site. We really want to build a community for our sellers and buyers to be able to meet each other and just get to know each other. Seems corny, but I am excited to get to know my bidders. I want to provide the products you want as well as if I hit a nice card, its cool to know its going to someone that actually wants to KEEP it!!

Thanks to everyone for sticking with the site. We are in a semi-transitional phase with the forum, but once that hits, its game on again!

Happy pre-holidays to everyone and I hope to see everyone again really soon!!

2011 Topps Prime Break

The Topps Prime break video has been posted! Fun stuff to open. I like the thicker card stock they used for all cards. Nice to see that happening more and more. We got an extra autograph card (although a redemption). It was fun to open and thanks for everyone's bids!

The Video:
http://youtu.be/-z5XjrG8Kss

I hope to break some more football soon! Topps Chrome is  a hot item right now and I think that is where I am looking!

Dominion is going to be listed soon also, for you hockey faithful! I have one box of that left as well as one box of The Cup! I really want to open them soon, so be on the look for those!

Artifacts Ending, Ultimate and Prime Listed

Teams still remain without a bid! There are some seriously low bids still out there too! Check it out and lets see what we get out of this box!

Artifacts is the hottest 11-12 product right now. UD released the list of Rookie Redemptions for the roman numeral cards recently. No randoming those!! (Only will have to random the wildcard redemptions)

I listed a quickie break of 2010-11 UD Ultimate + a Hitbox* for Thursday.
*A "Hitbox" is a box of cards that I will open and send out only the "Hits" or insert/non-base cards
I have 2 10-11 retail boxes of cards from which we will choose one at random.. Artifacts and UD Series 1. The UD Series 1 claims to have 6 Young Gun cards. Being a retail box, the Artifacts doesn't have specified hits, but is still a great product to find fun things in. I'm trying new stuff out, so let me know if the Hitbox is a keeper to do again!

I also listed  Topps Prime Football!
I'm pretty excited for my first Football break. 2011 has some great rookies that are really ripping it up right now. I'm trying some different bonuses including a bonus that will take place if the Cowboys lose on Sunday! I'm pretty indifferent on the Cowboys, but my cameraman is Redskins fan. Enough said about that! :)

A few posts back (not that anyone really reads this anyway :P ), I hinted at something great. A great bonus. Well, that got put on hold right now, but I'm still trying to match what it was. If I can still pull it off, I'll announce that it was the great bonus that never happened.

One last note, we are working on setting up a user forum! We are starting to tweak the details and get things set up. We are planning to use this as a place for the sellers to post video links, break announcements, as well as just talk with you, the bidder! We want to start a community because that is what collecting is all about, the experience!

I plan on having a poll section as well. I want to gather feedback on what you want to see on the site. I also want to get feedback on how us as sellers are doing, what we could do better, and what you want to see on the site in the future. You are what allow us to have this site, so we want to list what you want!

More details will be listed as we get closer to a release date, so please watch for updates! Thanks so much for everyone that bids on the site. Again, you are the reason we do this!

11-12 Artifacts Posted

I posted my box of 11-12 Artifacts on the 643boxbreaks.com site! I have had great luck with this product personally, so it only makes sense to bust it for everyone!

My experience with it has been buying 2 packs from my LCS from different boxes and getting the box hit both times! I'm hoping my luck will translate to the box I got and turn into something AWESOME. I guess we will have to find out the fun way!

Auction ends 11/1/11!

Crazy Cup Hit

I broke my first tin of The Cup on Thursday night. It was pretty nice stuff. I know there are breakers doing cases at a time, and believe me, I wish I could do that because it was over pretty quick with only 6 cards in the box.

One card stuck out though. If you watched the break, then you know. It was a 1/1 Legendary Cuts of Charlie Conacher. Crazy hit. I had to do some research because I honestly didnt know who he was. It turns out he was a pretty important Toronto player from the 30's and 40's. He was the "Bobby Hull of hockey BEFORE Bobby Hull", one article proclaims!

Its pretty cool to see such history come alive in a simple pack of trading cards. I, myself, learned more about the history of a great hockey player and Hall of Famer, and Subterfuge was able to get a great card that he is going to really enjoy (as he said from an excited email). That's what it is all about. Learning about the past and passing it on to someone that will enjoy it. Ok, sappy bit is now over. Thanks again to everyone that bid on the teams!!

Blast from the Past...ish

So there I was watching the Penguins/Wild game the other night with my wife. We live relatively close to the Wild and in the past have made the trip to see a game. I'm not a Wild fan. Simply put. I dont dig the team, the players, or even the announcers, so I go to see the "other" team.

Well, I guess one connection to the Wild I have, besides pulling them in every Dominion box thus far, is that they drafted Nate Prosser.

Nate is an old Sioux Falls Stampede Alumni so I had to pick up his Cup card when I started to see them hit eBay. I know the card wont erupt in value, but I thought it was really cool to have it. Nate used to ref our men's league hockey games on Sunday nights for some extra cash.

Nate is one heck of a guy and was always mostly quiet from what I remember of him. I guess I didn't take particular notice of the Stampede refs other than during period breaks sometimes they would pick up a stick wow us. They were definitely the best refs we ever have had and wouldn't take crap. Good luck in the NHL Nate. Hope you are the next Bourque!

I think the fondest memory I have of sharing the same ice with some amazing talent was back in 2001. We had a local hockey tournament for any towns with adult teams in the region. I was slated to play goal on the team of the organizer of the tournament. He also happened to be the rink manager and the equipment manager of the Stampede. He kept telling me that we were going to have a really good team, but I wasn't so sure after I heard many talented friends were playing on other teams.

When the tournament time came around, I quickly found out that we were going to be quite a team to beat. I learned that  a couple Stampede boys would be joining us. If you know your Stampede history, this can be quite exciting as we had a nice roster at the time.

Jacob Micflikier, who now plays for the AHL's Hershey Bears was one of the standouts. I just remember everyone telling me how good he was and then me confirming it after the first warm-ups...

The next stand-in is the most note-worthy. It was Thomas Vanek. Holy crap right? Well, lets just say the hardest part of the whole tournament was during warm-ups. He had 4 more gears than anyone and just had "it". Amazing stuff to watch. I had one of the best seats in the house too. I felt bad for the other goalies because they were just ripping them up if they were able to get close.

The weeks after I had a bunch of my Friday night leaguers asking me how good they were. I just confirmed that I didnt see many pucks in the warm-ups and I could feel every shot that hit me, even in the leg pads. Truth be told, I dont remember a ton about the tournament. I was just young back then. It didnt really hit me as something important to remember until I heard Vanek was drafted.

If I could, I'd go back to that weekend and live it up again and get some pucks signed. I'm sure Vanek and Micflikier dont remember that tournament, but it sure made some memories for a lot of us here!

The Cup Part I

I got my hands on a couple boxes of The Cup and one is listed now!

I wanted to verify this large of an investment was OK, so here is how it could have went down:

Me: "Honey, I want to buy a pack of hockey cards"
Wife: "Why do you need to ask me?"
Me: "Because it costs over $400...."
Wife: "NO." "Wait.. how many cards do you get?"
Me: "Well..."
Wife: "How Many, Stacks?" (No she doesnt call me Stacks :P )
Me: "Just 5 usually..."
Wife: "I'm glad you asked. NO."
Me: "Ok. I wont order another one then"
Wife: "ANOTHER ONE???"
Me: "Ya, I have two on the way. Great deal online!"
Wife: FACEPALM

OK, that wasn't close to how it went. Mrs. STP is much more trusting and actually really likes hockey card collecting. I just had to show her that the bidders on 643boxbreaks.com are the best on the internet and are just as addicted to cardboard as I am!

So there you go. A slice of my everyday. Listing breaks, ordering "inventory" :) and having a great time along the way! I'm just so thankful she likes it too!!

The Bonuses Trial

Well, we all know that the bonus structure is changing. I, for one, am OK with change in this area. I used to give out a "bonus" card for every one that got 5+ teams in my auctions. While I thought it was cool, there is no way for me to know what a buyer actually wanted. Someone might be buying a team just for a certain player or because it is a cheap price. The last thing I want to do is give someone what I think is a  "bonus" when they could give a crap about the team or the player!

The new idea is to keep it random and with lady luck. As anyone that has watched my last video knows, I am trying to get away from Random.org as much as possible. I picked up some NHL team bottle caps and now use those for my giveaways. I think its a better system as its not nearly as boring as watching Random.org.

As for when a penguins card is hit, I usually try to reward everyone by opening something extra. While I know that blaster boxes were OK given the quality of the hits so far, I want to be prepared for the bigger, better cards I may see. I also will gauge my Pens bonuses on the outcome of the box. If the box ends well, then I will be more likely to "go for it" with a more expensive box/pack.

Another bonus I am going to test is a "Hit Box". What this means is that if I activate the bonus, either through a nice pens card or if I feel like it, I will open up a larger box with more cards, such as a UD Series 1 box, etc and only send out the hits/insert cards. This way you get what you want without the filler and I can reward everyone for their bidding enthusiasm!

If you have any favorites on the bonuses either I or any of the other sellers have done, please let me know. I really want to find the best method that everyone will enjoy. We strive to give everyone the best service as well as the most enjoyable time. That is what hopefully makes us as a site stand out!

STP40

The New Inventory

As the previous post suggest, I now have 2x of each Dominion and The Cup. What I didn't mention was that I also have a box of 11-12 Artifacts as well. I know its a hot item on the site because of its recent release.

Edmonton seems like it will the hot team for a while now with RNH starting for the team. That rookie redemption will be the hot one, I feel, next to the Avs' Landy.

I've had some good luck with 11-12 Artifacts so far. I have bought 2 packs on separate occasions from separate boxes from my LCS to see what it was like. Both times I got either the dual or triple swatch box hits! The first one was Sabers Berbe/Ennis/Vanek jersey hit /150 and the second time was a Canadians Markov/Kostitsyn patch hit /50. Not too shabby! Overall the cards are pretty cool. Similar look to the old Artifacts style. The featured player is cut out of the scene and placed on a "artifact-y" background. The patch/fabric/autograph inserts are nice and limited too. Lots of parallels to keep hunters happy and of course, more 1/1 cards for us to wish we had :)

Dominion Part III - Now Listed!

The past week was a spendy one! I received my first of two new Dominion boxes as well as the first of 2 tins of The Cup. Yes, I finally broke down and shelled out the cash for The Cup. I have watched so many breaks of it online. It is amazing stuff, thats for sure. I just wanted to try it out for myself and see what all the hype was about!

I have listed Dominion pt III on the 643boxbreaks.com site ending next Monday. I set the auction prices in the middle of the road. If one bid wins them, you will have one heck of a deal on your hands.

I am also going to list a break ending next Thursday. I haven't decided if it will be The Cup or Dominion yet. I really want to break a tin of The Cup, so I am thinking I will alternate between Dominion and The Cup for a couple weeks of fun!!

A new change I am going to try is breaking twice a week and then shipping both breaks at the same time. I find this really helps reduce the total time I spend addressing, packing, etc. so I am going to try that for the next few breaks. If you know you are not going to bid on the second break or this just doesnt work for you, please let me know. I usually get the cards in the mail within 2 days so one extra shouldn't be a large problem, I dont think. This way it also helps get the second break out a lot quicker!

Another new change is that I have upgraded my card holders for bigger hits. I ordered a couple boxes of one-touch magnetic holders, so if you get a nice, thick hit in the Dominion or Cup breaks, I will put the cards in these holders now. Those of you that were in the last Dominion break and got hits will know that most of the cards were send out in screw-down holders. Hopefully this will save you a step from having to re-slab your big hits!

Again, if you have any comments or questions, please let me know!!

Dominion and the Curious Case of the New Logo!

Dominion Part II ends tonight! I'm pretty excited to see what this box has in it! Its looking like the reception of Dominion is going over great, so I'm considering one more box for the hat trick or moving toward a tin of The Cup!.
3 teams remain without bids! Dallas, Columbus, and Nashville! Super-Cheap chances to get some great cards!

The new logo has been pasted on the 643 site as well as the FaceBook page! Please let me/us know what you think of it! The site has also taken on a more "Halloween-y" feel as well as the logo. The holiday mood has gripped us and we wanted to share it with you too!

I'm hoping that we, as sellers, are giving you, the buyer, the selection that you like to see. As will all breaks, I encourage suggestion to what brands you want to buy! Email me with any suggestions at all!

First Baseball Break is Wrapping Up!

The first 643boxbreaks.com baseball listing is almost over! I'm so far pleased with its reception, and hopefully I can get some very cool stuff out of it for everyone!

If it goes well and I can break even, I'll definitely be mixing in more baseball breaks in the future! I know this isnt the most amazing box of cards, but I needed to test the waters to see how many fans we had :)

Thanks for bidding everyone! Several $1 teams left!!

Dominion Break Part II

SN:93801797

After the popularity of the last box, I had to revisit the set!

I listed it last night and AFTER I listed the set, I remembered that I was going to try out a new promo. I picked up some 10-11 RC's of the more popular rookies. I am numbering 6 of the RC's I have and during the break, I am going to roll a single die. Whatever  number comes up, I am going to give away that RC!

This Break's RC's include:
#1 - 10-11 OPC Retro Rainbow Jeff Skinner
#2 - 10-11 OPC P.K. Subban
#3 - 10-11 Pinnacle Nino Niederreiter
#4 - 10-11 UD YG Jamie Arniel
#5 - 10-11 UD Victory Sergei Bobrovsky
#6 - TBD

There are a lot of improvements happening to the 643boxbreaks.com site as well as how us as breakers perform our breaks. We want to provide the best service as well as the most enjoyable service. We aren't a business so we don't want to make it seem like we are out to make money.

If at any time you have any questions or suggestions on how we do things or how we can improve, or even if you just want to tell us how we are doing, please, by all means, email me @ StackThePads40@gmail.com. I will gladly submit any feedback I receive to the entire group of sellers!

Thanks again to everyone bidding. We really enjoy what we do here!

Baseball is Upon Us!

Well, I had to do it! I posted the 2011 Allen and Ginter box that has been staring at you for the last few breaks...

A tip for anyone bidding: All non-baseball/non-sport cards will be given away to ALL teams, so the more teams you get, the much better chance you have at getting those cards! There are a LOT of these cards, too, so its worthwhile to check out what you could get... Like A JFK hair sample!!

I am anxious to see what is inside. Any rip cards will be RIPPED unless the player on the front is in the HOF. I'm not sure if there are throwback cards on rip cards, so get ready to RIP!

Hopefully we have some baseball fans on the site. I'm excited to see what happens!

STP40

Upcoming giveaway teaser...

I dont want to reveal too much, but I recently spent pretty much all of the earnings thus far (as little as they are) and some out-of-pocket cash on some extra giveaways that I am going to do during an upcoming break. I am going to announce it in the auction listing, so be prepared for something "Great". I will reveal more once I have the item(s) in my possession as they are being shipped to me now from Canada.

My philosophy is that I want break even. I know sometimes it seems like we are making money hand over fist, but thats not the case. The 643 team believes in bonuses so much that it hurts. Sometimes people dont factor in the hidden costs of what we do. The cards, packaging and shipping are the tangible items, but please dont forget about the time that we put into it! When an auction ends, I am always watching and as soon as all teams end, I am filling out the team sheet as well as starting to hunt for bonuses to give away to the 5+ team buyers.

After that, it takes about 2 hours for arm and hand makeup and vocal warm-ups. At this point I am almost ready, but I then find that I need to calm my nerves with a quick shot of Jim Beam and a Cuban Cigar. Once that is done, I have to take a 30 minute steam, shower off all of the makeup, and I am relaxed and ready to go. I have my hair fixed after it falls flat in the shower, and comb my beard. After about 20 push-ups, I'm psyched up enough to rip open the cards.

Ok, that last paragraph is completely made up, but it does take time to make the final product. I like to post-produce my videos to give them a polished look. It takes more time, but its way worth it when the breaks are published out on youtube for millions of eyes. It almost gives a degree of free advertising to the causal onlooker. It also lets me join two videos into one, if they are short enough. This way you can watch it all without having to click more links!

As usual, if anyone has any suggestions to how I do my breaks, please feel free to email me @ StackThePads40@gmail.com. I am open to suggestions on how to make things better for you!

STP40

Another Dominion Break....

I made the Dominion break public in my YouTube channel now.

I really liked the product so I decided to order another box. Actually I ordered it before my break, so hopefully it will arrive soon as I want to post it ASAP!

Its addicting, you know? Just opening up these high-end packs and seeing what they have in them is like a drug. I find that when I film the breaks, I try to make sure the cards, etc are in focus so the viewer can see them more than myself actually looking at the card! Its crazy because after the break I usually do a recap for myself because I tend to miss the fine details of the cards or the cards themselves. For example, I opened up a Collectors Choice blaster with the box of Game Used and I didnt even realize the Jonas Gustavsson rookie card until after the break! Next to the Tavares RC, that is the best base card in the set!

Panini Dominion Serial Number

Here is the SN for tomorrow night's Panini Dominion break!
NE 93807347

Sure, no superstar numbers in the middle of it, but I still have a great feeling about this! It glows with blue-ness!
Last day to bid on the teams! There are still 3 without bids! Its highly likely that one bid will buy them!

Good luck! I can't wait to get this opened up!!

STP40

New! Lower Prices!

Dominion has about a day left on the bidding. I have 3 teams without bids, so I decided to spice things up by lowering the initial price... again!

Since other teams have been bid up more than I thought they would be, I am lowering the price of the 3 teams left.

The 3 teams are:
Dallas $5.99
Detroit $18.99
Toronto$10.99

I think by far Detroit has the sickest cards out of the teams left. Its very hard for me to say that since I am pretty much anti-red wing.

If Dominion goes over well, I am going to order a tin or two of The Cup. I have been watching a lot of breaks featuring The Cup lately and I'm torn between the amazing quality and the number of cards per tin. I wanted to try Dominion because there are 8 cards per box, but I have seen most with 9 to 11 in them.

If you want me to list The Cup or Dominion, by all means, email me and let me know that you would be interested! I know its high-priced, but man, its gorgeous too.

Thanks!

SP Game Used Broken!

The SP Game Used break is over and I have uploaded the video to my YouTube channel.

Break is video 005a and the bonuses are video 005b. Subscribe to the channel so you can see them as soon as I make them public! Bid and win an auction to see it BEFORE they are public!

Overall, I was happy with the Game Used box. This was my first, but I thought getting 3 Autos and 1 Patch card was pretty decent.

Congrats to Teeks and Elk Killer for mopping it up. I know I would be with either a Giroux or Nash auto. I didnt even realize that the Gustavsson rookie from the Collector's Choice was the best card out of the box. Its the 2nd most valuable base card next to the Tavares rookie. Not bad for a blaster.

Also congrats to BasketBalFan101 for winning the random twitter follower giveaway! Make sure to follow me on Twitter for a chance to win some free UD Black Diamond packs!

Great Break, thanks to everyone again. Please check out the Crown Royale break that is ending MONDAY NIGHT!

Also check out the DOMINION break that I have ending on Thursday night! Several great teams remaining for pretty cheap prices!

Dominion Listed!!

Its official!

A fresh box of Dominion is on its way to me, so it has been listed on the 643 site!

This box was quite a bit more than the "Average" box of cards, so the starting bid prices are a little higher based on the team and what you can get.

I wanted to use the Auction format so everyone can see the listings for the entire week. I though that would be the most fair to everyone!

The set is LOADED. if you haven't seen it, please check out the Panini Pack-Out that they tweeted a couple weeks ago:

Also, eBay has been blowing up with listings!

Spendy Week.. Its Like XMAS!

Well, I  have been buying more than usual lately. I ordered a bunch of new cards for auction as well as a new FlyCam Nano for some side-projects. I'm also into film/video so I am trying to get some new toys to go along with my DSLR.

The goal for the box breaks is to make my investment back as well as get some great looks at the finer products out there. Meeting great people is a bonus, so thanks a ton to everyone I have been working with and selling to on the 643boxbreaks site.

My video goal is to make back the money I spend on the equipment as well as gain experience enough to make it a full-time job. I'm working in IT right now and sometimes I want to be more creative since that was what I went to college for. I'll see how it goes. If anything I'll get some cool toys as well as a little scratch to pay for more cards :)

Oh, I also pre-ordered a box of Panini Dominion... woot! To be listed soon!

UD Ultimate Break - One For The Record Books!

I filmed my 10-11 UD Ultimate break late last night and it was a DOOZY.

Dont forget, you too can bid on the breaks at http://643boxbreaks.com. I am not out to bankrupt you. My philosophy is to keep trading affordable yet exciting! I make little to nothing on the breaks because I just enjoy the heck out of the fun of it!

If you dont want to have the fun ruined, go here and watch Video 002 and 003, in that order. DO NOT READ ANY MORE OR SCROLL DOWN!
http://www.youtube.com/user/StackThePads40

Ok, back to the break run-down..

So, I wasn't sure if I was digging the UD Ultimate series after watching a few breaks, but after this one, I am a converted believer that good things come in small boxes!

If you watch the video, I am a little excited after the pull. I know, its just how I get when I see stuff that good. I kept it together (for the most part, lol) so all in all, it went well!

I had to split it into two videos because it was 1080p video. My bad.

Congrats to TraderCracks from CardboardConnection.com for winning my first Twitter Giveaway! All you need to be is a follower to win! And the more followers I have means the better prizes!! (plus I may slip a few other freebies of your favorite teams/sports in there too!)

Next up is a UD Artifacts box to be posted for next week. I spend today fishing in the sun, so I'm wiped! I'm adding a pic of the redemption card too, so check it out. My camera-lady had to remind me that it was a Gretzky box. I even said that going into the video and even posted it on my auctions that way! I was too excited to remember! Thanks camera-lady!! :)

Gretzky box = Gretzky MOJO!

Next up is more hockey of course, but I'm also going to be starting some MLB and NFL breaks around the corner!

Thanks everyone so much for bidding! Lets keep collecting affordable for all!

The Newest HOF Hit is Posted!

After receiving confirmation that the video was seen by the lucky recipient, I have now posted the newest Hall of Fame Hit from 643boxbreaks.com and me, StackthePads40!

Behold, in all of its glory, the Linus Omark Auto/Prime Jersey Rookie Card #'d 013/199 hit!
SirSniperJim, a new bidder to my auctions, stole this little gem. I know Edmonton is a gamble for 10-11 cards, but when it hits, it hits big time! I know its not Taylor Hall or Magnus Paajarvi or even Jordan Eberle, but this is a sweet card, none the less. For the final auction price of $12, I think this card should go in one of those advertisements you see iPads and Ferraris going for 86% off retail prices that are totally fake, but this really happened! I've seen the auction for this team and this product go for around 3 times that price so SirSniperJim, congratulation and great pick up! If you ever list it on eBay, please use this image so we can have a watermark advertisement. :)

*FYI: I cannot guarantee that you will always get cards from my breaks, but when you do, good things can appear! Also, buying it bulk helps. LOL.

Another Break Bites the Dust

I'm fresh off another break/post for my newest listing. Another Luxury Suite box has been ripped apart and all that remains is the goodness that was inside!

Thanks to all that bid. I had a lot of new buyers, so that is a huge positive for the 643 site! We need to get the word out not only to support the current number of breakers on the site, but also help out the eBay shunned crowd that is looking for a place to bid on their favorite teams!

Please pass the word any way you can! Like the Facebook page, follow the Twitter feeds, read this blog, and don't for get to bid on the upcoming auctions! :)

We need to push to keep the site fresh! We have 10 breakers listed now so there are going to be a LOT of breaks so we need bidders to help keep us breaking even. Thats all I ask is that I break even after shipping. If I make a little, I invest that into bonuses like the Black Diamond giveaways. I'm not here to profit as I believe collecting this high-end stuff should be affordable!

I really want to buy a tin or two of 10-11 The Cup but I will need some "encouragement" to get it ordered since it retails for so much! I'll need to see some Twitter/Facebook/Blog love!

Explaining "Bonuses"

As you may see from the 643 site, there are a lot of talks about bonuses. Excuse me, I mean +++BONUSES+++!!+!+!!
You just have to love the Auction listing language. It's almost a separate dialect of English that includes a lot of exclamation marks and is mostly in capital letters :)

Well, the way I have gone about bonuses is by 1. Awarding bulk-buyers 2. Awarding users that do not receive a hit, usually x2 or more. In #1, I try to thank the users that buy more than 5 teams. I find that they are going to get a boat load of the cards anyway, but they are also paying the most. I find a team they like from their purchase and I will send out a card (or cards) from my personal collection from one of their teams. If that doesn't work, I will send out a 3-pack of 10-11 Black Diamond Hockey cards.

For #2, the poor soul without a hit, I randomize off 2 random prizes. Sometimes they are cards from my personal collection and sometimes they are 3-packs of 10-11 Black Diamond Hockey cards. I try to give the most I can so most people get something, but it might not happen every time because of the small number of cards in the products I have listed.

The #3 Wild-Card bonus is if a Penguins card is pulled. I usually dont list the Penguins as a team because I am a fan that is trying to build a small collection of cards. I know the team draws a lot, so I take the hit to not list them. Some may find it a little odd, but again, I'm not here to profit. I can prove that because if I pull a Penguins card, I always have a bonus lined up for the buyers. I try to either have some other packs I open on camera. Last time it was an Artifacts blaster box. This time, I have a Collector's Choice Blaster. I'm hoping for Penguins cards and I'm thinking the other buyers are as well due to the extra packs!

In the future I want to give out 1/2 or full refunds. Hopefully I get the guts to do that soon!

As always, I take all feedback on my bonuses as well as suggestions for bonuses!

What is the "White Glove Service"?

For my breaks, I have always use protection. What I mean is that when I break open high-end cards, I know that the buyer (hopefully you), will want the pulls to be in the best shape they can be in.

To ensure this, I open my breaks while wearing white cotton gloves, similar to what museums use for handling old documents and other priceless artifacts. Another comparison can be of what the Stanley Cup curators use when they handle the cup.

I have watched a lot of sport card breaks on youtube (non 643boxbreaks.com sellers) and to see someone getting finger-fudge all over a freshly pulled autograph would upset me to no means. I don't mind having trusted breakers handle the cards, but I don't want to assume you don't mind!

Its just an added benefit I offer for the loyal customer as a thank you for bidding.

A little about Stacks, STP, Stacky, Stack-a-roo...

Ok, I thought I'd post a little about me finally...

IN THE BEGINNING
I grew up in a small Mid-western area and loved baseball. I played every chance I could get and loved every minute of it. I dreamed of growing up and playing like Jose Canseco, Frank Thomas, and Ken Griffey Jr. as these were relatively young players back in the day.

That of course, never happened, but I felt a great connection to them through collecting cards. I was introduced to this great hobby by our family friend, and my long lost brother, Mark.

THE MIDDLE YEARS
The collecting eventually tapered off as I went to High School and college, but I had a few friends that were starting to get into hockey (thanks NHL '94). We eventually started playing roller-hockey in a semi-abandoned tennis court in the summer time. We were barely old enough to drive and constantly teased the curfew laws by playing too late on most occasions. I was the goalie most of the time. I found a certain satisfaction in the denial of celebrations. Plus I was the "largest" :) . We had to make our own nets and fix our own equipment. It was paradise.

We all had our favorite team and favorite player. Whether it be the Penguins, the Avalanche, the Rangers or the, ugh... Redwings. We never missed an opportunity to taunt and rag on the other friends if our team beat theirs the night previous. It was almost like a unalienable right to do this.

GROWING UP
After High School, some went their own ways for college. A few of us were volunteered to play in a men's ice hockey league in the nearby city. We were basically fillers for the roster. We had never played ice hockey and had only skated during open skate sessions. I remember the flurry to buy second-hand pads at a local sport shop not knowing exactly what to buy. I turned into a goalie, naturally and for a self-trained G-man, I think I'm doing alright. I like to play out every now and then on LW, but my heart and soul is splattered on the goal crease.

We revisited roller-hockey in the summers and gained more players. Some of which are still great friends to this day. My hockey friends are definitely the majority of my friends right now. They are also some of the most loyal friends I have ever had.

Hockey cards came around as I was in college. I bought a couple packs of Pinnacle and Black Diamond and decided to see if I knew the names. I knew every name in the packs and found some of the coolest sport photography I had seen. The internet wasn't as prevalent as it is now, so finding some interesting hockey photos were few and far between. It was like looking at a photo album of the best players!

ADULT? WHO, ME?
To wrap up, I got a job, grew up (physically), started earning money, kept playing hockey, and now I have some extra cash to spend on the hockey card habit. I bought an auction from Teeks643 before eBay went postal on box breaking so I was extremely lucky to get linked with his site.

BOX BREAKING SOAP BOX
My philosophy is "Collecting should be fun AND affordable." Box breaking is not something that I wish to get rich at. Heck, if I just break even, I'll be happy. I'm glad this is also the mentality of Teeks and the 643boxbreaks.com site. I just want to try to allow collectors to purchase their favorite teams/players without having to spend the high price the premium cards run now days. Yes, I know the cards are filled with memorabilia, signatures, sticks, tags, patches, tape, sweat, spit, and hair samples, but I'm not sure if I could spend $100-$400 on a pack of 5 cards by myself. This is why I break! Lets get some great stuff and share it with everyone and hand out a crap-load of bonuses too!

THE END!
OK, that's about all I wanted to share. If you read it all, congratulations. If you didn't, good work. you probably saved yourself about 10 minutes :)

BTW

Oh, by the way, the SN for this box is a Jagr box... will it mean good things for the Capitals, Rangers or the Flyers? Who knows!

My luck, nothing from the pens will be drawn. I'm not really diggin the Jags anymore.

I will also be listing a 10-11 UD Ultimate box for breakin' ending Thursday night next week (Sept 1st). This one has THE GREAT1-er number in the SN... see if you can guess it from that hint :)
